With a volunteer teaching corps of 300 technology professionals and a powerful network of school and company partners, we bring coding courses and work-based learning programs to students who attend under-resourced high schools. Students leave Code Nation programs career-ready, with a holistic set of skills, competencies, and resources that set them up for success:
Here are a few of the ways our community is making an impact:
67% of our reported alumni who completed two or more years of Code Nation programs are currently majoring or employed in a STEM field. Over half are studying or working in Computer Science.
We partner with schools where 75% or more of the student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch.
During the 2019-20 school year, 77% of Code Nation students identify as Black or Latinx. 43% of our students identify as female.
During the 2019-20 school year, we are serving 1,435 students in 82 programs in New York City, Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Founded in 2012 (and formerly known as ScriptEd), Code Nation is rapidly expanding to schools across New York City, Chicago, and the Bay Area. We hope to one day make our program available in cities across the United States. If you want your city to benefit from a program like ours, please send us a message.
